This is a beautifully renovated cabin. There is a year round creek that crosses through a 'green way' (walk / jog / bike trail), accessible from the property through a locked gate. The house was completely rebuilt in it's original style, but with a few additions. Another full bath with handicap accessability, plus a half bath. Central heat and air conditioning. The house has beautiful hardwood floors and the entire house is decorated in country style furnishings. This property is the vicinity where Comanche Indians used to live, and sometimes arrow heads can still be found. The Space The house is tastefully decorated and has room to comfortably fit 10 people. The house features an open floor plan and the kitchen comes stocked with plenty of pots and pans as well as dishes, silverware, and seating for 10. The living room features a 55inch 4K HD TV equipped with a Roku for streaming or live tv. Guest Access The house contains a fenced backyard as well as outdoor seating for 12. The house is set up for remote check in and check out and the contact with host will be limited. However, I'll gladly provide any recommendations for food or activities in San Antonio and am a short drive away if any issues arise. There is an efficiency in the back of the property that is currently vacant but will house a long term tenant in the future. No, we're not on the RiverWalk but we do have over a mile of San Antonio River frontage. Our home is located in the country away from city noises and congestion. However, we are only 15 minutes from the Riverwalk, Alamo Dome, The Alamo, SBC Center (Home of the San Antonio Spurs), Joe Freeman Coliseum and other exiting places and events in San Antonio. Sea World and Fiesta Texas are only 30 minutes away and Schlitterbaum, America's #1 Water Park is only an hour away. Although our river does not compare to the Comal or Guadalupe for tube floating, those locations are not too far away. So you can still go enjoy the tubing and the crowds and come "home" to peace and quiet and relax in the hot tub. We are situated on 110 acres with over a mile of San Antonio River frontage. Several nice areas have been cleared for fishing and/or swimming. Hiking and biking have been favorites for many who have stayed here. We are minutes from the Rodeo held in San Antonio every February. We have found many arrow heads and other Indian artifacts on our property. Jack and I are pleased to have visitors to San Antonio stay in our home. It is important that you read the owner story for more information. This is a large spacious home (4,200 square feet) with lots of open areas. There is a courtyard in the front of the house, a terrace outside two of the three bedrooms and a large back porch perfect with an adjoining deck for cook-outs and entertaining. Also has a dirt bike trail over two miles long which is fun for motorcycles, mountain bikes, and quads. There is a large 10 foot by 20 foot attached covered deck with room to stretch out and enjoy the breeze and great country view. Kids love to camp out on this great deck. There is also a cement patio with a table and chairs in front of the cottage and a smoker that can be used to barbecue. Mesquite wood always available for use. Although located in the country, you are only about 15-20 minutes away from Downtown (River Walk, The Alamo, SBC Center, Alamodome and more). We are on the San Antonio River and the wonderful newly renovated hike and bike trail that connect all the Missions. Skip rocks on the river, watch the sunset or curl up in our comfortable, charming home. With extensive grounds, nestled on 2 acres, we have a real 'getting away from it all' feel while still being conveniently located to all of San Antonio's best attractions -10 miles to The Alamo- 3 miles to grocery stores, restaurants, a movie theater and shopping! History: The main portion of the house was built 1890ish and then the rest was added in the late 20s. All the land to the south of the home used to be owned by the Southwells. It was a pecan orchard. The river portion to your west was cut in the late 50s in order to move water out if downtown more rapidly and prevent flooding. The river to the east is the original river remnant and has incredible bird life. You may also see coyotes and wild hogs on the river. It is rumored to have been a stagecoach stop and even a brothel. Our home is also steps from the Mission Reach bike and hiking trails which have wonderful views of natural wildlife. We can accommodate large groups traveling to create lasting memories. Spanish style home with courtyard in the center. Courtyard allows guests enjoy the feeling of being outdoors while being inside. Our place is a four bedroom, two and half bath home that accommodates 7 comfortably. The master suite has a large private bath with Jacuzzi tub for two, dual sinks, and a separate shower. The home has a large kitchen with an island and breakfast area. The family room is equipped with a 120" TV projection screen and surround sound. This is perfect for viewing movies and sporting events. For the fitness conscious, a workout room which includes an exercise machine.
